ORION TOWNSHIP, MICH. (July 9, 11:35 a.m. ET) -- Lawrence Plastics Inc. is boosting capacity by adding equipment purchased from Cadence Innovation LLC.

The Orion Township, Mich.-based injection molder purchased a 2006 Van Dorn Demag press in a pre-auction agreement with the current asset holders. The Branford Group is scheduled to auction the remaining assets of Cadence Innovation, located in Chesterfield Township, on July 22.

Matthew Cotter, president of Lawrence Plastics, said the company is looking into purchasing more Cadence Innovation equipment.

“We have an increase in capacity and an increase in non-automotive business.” Cotter said, including expanding work from agricultural machinery customers.

In recent years Lawrence Plastics has also purchased injection molding machines from Collins & Aikman Plastics Ltd., Bruce Plastics Inc. and Auburn Engineering.

Lawrence Plastics manufactures decorative and functional assemblies for original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers, military, consumer and agricultural customers. The company was founded in 1946 and has multiple facilities in Walled Lake and Orion Township, Mich.
